For I handed onto you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures... l Corinthians 15 3,4
We believe that the story of what God has done in Jesus Christ to be of "first importance" for all generations and all times.
In Christian Education, it is our goal to "hand on" this story to those God has entrusted to us now! it is our objective to use the very best in educational theory and practice available to tell that story.
To achieve this objective, the Children's Ministry program seeks to tell the "old, old story" by integrating what we know about how children learn and the latest in best education practices with what we know to be the best curriculum for life, The Bible. The umbrella for this program for all children Toddler Two through Fifth Grade is the New Bible Adventures. In each classroom teachers will involve the children in experiential and engaging ways with the Bible story through music, literature, art, drama, and physical activities. Each year a new theme is utilized, and each month a new story in investigated.
The Toddler Twos through Kindergarten children meet on the first floor of the Eastminster or Covenant Hall Building. First through fifth graders meet on the second floor of the Westminster Building and experience the story in one of the follow workshops:
- Art in Antioch
- Drama and Puppets in Damascus
- Games in Jerusalem
- Movie in the Mount Sinai Cinema
- Computers in Cana
- Science & Geography in Galilee
- Cooking in Bethany B&B
Just check the bulletin board by the second floor elevator to find your class location for that Sunday! Come and join in the story. Come and be a part of the story to "hand on."
